The Charlotte Hornets are starting to look like a team finding its identity, extending their winning streak to four games with a 109–93 home victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, highlighted by a composed 20-point performance from newcomer Coby White in his Spectrum Center debut.

White, acquired to stabilize Charlotte’s backcourt and add perimeter scoring, delivered exactly what the Hornets have been missing: efficient offense, poised decision-making, and enough shot creation to keep the floor spaced. While he didn’t dominate the ball, his presence shifted the geometry of the court, opening driving lanes and giving Charlotte a reliable outlet late in the shot clock.

The Hornets’ offense fed off that balance. Multiple players contributed in double figures, the ball moved side to side, and Charlotte avoided the stagnant, isolation-heavy stretches that have plagued them in recent seasons. Defensively, they held Portland under 100 by tightening up in the second and third quarters, limiting second-chance opportunities and closing out aggressively on shooters.

For the Blazers, the loss underscored familiar issues: scoring droughts, inconsistent half-court execution, and difficulty generating clean looks when the first action is taken away. Their young core showed flashes, but the lack of sustained offensive pressure allowed Charlotte to methodically build and maintain a double-digit cushion.

From a league-wide perspective, the Hornets’ mini-surge is noteworthy. In a crowded Eastern Conference where the middle tier is fluid, stacking wins early can be the difference between chasing the play-in and pushing toward a secure playoff spot. White’s seamless integration suggests Charlotte may have found a workable backcourt formula that blends pace, spacing, and enough defensive resistance to stay competitive nightly.

It is only a four-game streak, and there will be tougher tests ahead, but this version of the Hornets looks more organized and resilient. If White continues to provide steady scoring and shot creation, Charlotte’s recent momentum may be less a blip and more the start of a meaningful climb up the standings.
